Greetings Founders, and welcome to your regularly-scheduled CardLife DevBlog! We’ve just released the biggest update to CardLife so far, and we’re thrilled to say that you seem to be enjoying it! Keep the feedback coming though, good or bad it’s all useful.
Hotfix: Patch Notes
We’ve just released a small hotfix to make a few changes to do with the new building mechanics. Here’s the short, but full, list;
- Slight increase to durability for all tools/weapons
- Slightly increased Wood drops from Trees
- Slightly increased Fiber drops from Flax Bush
- Updated Charcoal tooltip to better reflect how to make it
- Lowered Fiber cost for all building pieces and lowered Wood cost for wooden pieces
We'll have another hotfix due soon which should fix a few new bugs, including the following;
- Wolves spawning under structures
- Joining and re-joining a server making the terrain rebuild, with previous digs disappearing
- Creatures not spawning if you walk for a long distance
- Items disappearing/becoming invisible in the inventory
When you’re working in Early Access, the period immediately following a release is the most exciting - not only because you get to see how your community react to all the great new content you’ve created, but because of the useful feedback that comes with that. Every bug report or anecdotal account of the new game content is super useful so please do keep it coming!
We introduced you guys to the Lizard Man last week, and Mike’s been working away on getting him cardified and ready for action. The Lizard Man is looking very cool, and will be patrolling the world of CardLife later down the line. It’s very much a work in progress, but the model is very nearly there.
Matt’s been working at getting him moving too, and here’s a little behind-the-scenes shot of the rig in action. This is an untextured version, but it gives a sense of the kind of motion the Lizard Man will have. Once it’s a little further along we’ll have a gif to share so stay tuned!
Planning: We Go Again!
We’ve just come out of a big planning meeting to line up our objectives for the next big release. Of course, we’re super early on in that process so we don’t have any all-singing, all-dancing features to share just yet, but optimisation and stability is going to be a big focus this time around. I can currently see a very, very long list on Csaba’s screen, and while we learn everything we can from the update we just released, we’re all excited to start working on the next batch.
