Greetings Founders, and welcome to your regularly-scheduled CardLife DevBlog! We’ve been hard at work on the next major update to CardLife, and we are going to be introducing some truly huge milestones in the very next release, coming in just a matter of weeks! Read on for more...
Age 2 Is Coming!
With the next release, we’ll be adding the first new age of CardLife. This includes a whole host of new content, including new creatures (more on those guys later) and an entire new toolbox for you guys to play with! We think you’ll like the look of these;
Thor’s been creating this brand new mechanical kit, and Cian’s been working on implementing them in time for the release. The Chopper, Digger, Shears, and Drill are all going to be popular additions to the game, no doubt. Along with these new tools, we will enabling three new materials for crafting purposes - Gold, Cobalt, Tungsten
New Creatures!
With the introduction of a whole new age, Mike and Matt have been working flat-out on a new batch of beasties to populate the world of CardLife. We have one new model to show you today, and it’s an eight-legged nightmare constructed from recycled card. Introducing the Corrupted Spider;
Joining the Corrupted Spider will be the Sentinel Golem, the Lizardman (and the Lizardman Berserker), the Goblin Savage, and the Deer. The ecosystem of CardLife is about to get a lot more crowded - look after your spot on the food chain!
It’s worth explaining the age system and how it relates to the fauna of CardLife. As the game stands, we have age one creatures implemented, like so;
Age |
Surface |
Upper Mantle |
|
1.1 |
Wolf |
Imp |
|
1.2 |
Bear |
Goblin |
|
1.3 |
Raptor |
Prototype Golem |
However, the Raptor is actually set to be a Jungle Biome creature, along with the Lizardman, and the Lizardman Berserker, so it should look like so;
Age |
Surface |
Upper Mantle |
|
1.1 |
Deer |
Imp |
|
1.2 |
Wolf |
Goblin |
|
1.3 |
Bear |
Prototype Golem |
|
2.1 |
Lizardman |
Corrupted Spider |
|
2.2 |
Lizardman Berserker |
Goblin Savage |
|
2.3 |
Raptor |
Sentinel Golem |
The result of this will be, effectively, slight buffs to the wolf and the bear to reflect their new status in the hierarchy of age one. As the Jungle Biome isn’t implemented yet, the new surface creatures will be joining the existing lineup on the surface all at once, in the Forest Biome. The underground creatures are all currently in the right place, as the different stratas represent a new biome - the deeper you go, the tougher the enemies you’ll find.
Accessories
Remember those cool accessories we shared last week? Well they’ll be appearing in-game next update too. With different trinkets giving you different stat boosts, they’re going to significantly alter each player’s individual playstyle. Do you want to be a tank-like warrior figure? Then best load up on health-boosting items. With items boosting agility, damage, armor, and everything else you can imagine, these will go a long way to bring individuality to each player’s own experience of the game.
Crystal Clusters
Here’s another cool thing coming in Age 2. Those accessories? You’re going to need some crafting materials for them. To get these, you’re going to need to head underground, to find these mysterious crystal formations;
These will spawn underground once they’re implemented, are harvested with the pickaxe or drill, and will give you yet another reason to delve into the dark, dodging spiders, imps and all sorts of other threats as you look to take your crafting to the next level. There’s tonnes to talk about with this update, and we’ll have yet more in next week’s Dev Blog, so see you next week - same time, same place!
