Greetings Founders! We've just launched our June update for CardLife and within it is a veritable bounty of new features, quality of life tweaks and bug fixes based on your feedback and our long-term vision of the game.
We've made it easier than ever before to mod CardLife with this latest build and we've added new functionality to the Enchanting Table so you can now increase stats of weapons and armour by combining them with crafting elements. Oh and that pesky curved terrain can now be flattened as well, but you can read all about that in the complete patch notes below:
NEW ENEMY - WILD BOAR
Our cardboard boars may look cute, but mess with this forest-dwelling creature at your peril! These are low-level enemies but they are still fairly aggressive.
NEW FEATURES
- NEW Flatten Terrain Ability
- With this update, it is now possible to flatten terrain by pressing the left mouse button. This ability only strips away the top layer, unlocking new building potential.
- NEW Modding Folder
- We've designed CardLife from the ground-up to allow players the freedom to change core game world aspects. You can now more easily do this in-game, by creating a folder called 'Mods' in the main CardLife installation directory. In this folder you can place custom JSON files to change core aspects of the game experience. Be careful of ordering as if jsons have conflicting values, only one mod value will be applied. Official servers will remain a mod-free zone, but private servers will be able to use as many modifications as they wish.
- NEW Hot Bar
- We've been doing a fair amount of internal testing with new players as of late and these hot bar changes are in response to some testers struggling to get to grips with the game. We have added a permanent hand icon to the hot bar so players always know how to empty their hands, we've added iconography to clearly define health and stamina bars and we've added a meter to hunger, so there shouldn't be any doubt how full your character is when adventuring.
- NEW Weapon and Armour Enchantments
- Players can now enchant their weapon, armour and tools using the Enchanting Table to grand their gear stat boosts. Various animal parts and gems can be used to enchant items.
IMPROVEMENTS
- Deer and Stag AI behaviour is now more passive.
- Now possible to escape enemies
- Updated core game tech to Unity 2018
- The craft button in 'Connect The Dots' menu now defaults to 'Customise' encouraging players to create something unique. To produce the default design, players now click 'Default'
- Initial world load has been optimised and should now be faster
- Maintenance mode - added a new method for the development team to restrict CardLife access for short periods of time in order for us to deploy new updates
- Cave entrances now appear lighter when you approach them
- Added a 'Collect All Button' to the dropped crate interface. Now you can pick up all your items with one simple click
- Players are now spawned around the edges of the map, rather than random placement. This is so that players who are playing together can more easily find each other when they start
