Greetings, Founders. Hopefully you’ve all been enjoying your time in CardLife since the launch of Age 2 - we’ve certainly been happy to see some of the incredible community creations which have been springing up.
This shop from ‘NaughtyRobot’ is a particular highlight - if you want to trade food for ingots, then head on over to C5 or D4 on server 2 and get trading! We’re excited to see where this goes - it could be the beginning of a whole cardboard economy...
Captain's Hog
Mike has finished up the model for a new addition to CardLife’s ecosystem, the Wild Boar;
It’s always cool to meet another creature for the first time, so let’s take a look at where the Wild Boar slots into the food chain. It’s an age 1 creature, coming in somewhere between a wolf and a bear. The model is currently being rigged by Matt, so we should be able to see it in motion very soon.
The Boar will be another aggressive creature, but it’s worth mentioning that not all creatures in CardLife will be. At the moment, all fauna will attack on sight, but Deer and Stags will be made passive eventually. When this change is implemented, those animals will attack when provoked, but will otherwise be peaceful. They will eventually be joined by other non-aggressive creatures.
Sound Optimisations
Simone’s been experimenting with some new tech this week, and has been able to optimise the sound around attacking creatures, in order to make direction and distance more easily identifiable. Thanks to this, we’re already seeing some very interesting results internally. Get your headphones in and have a listen to this;
It’s another improvement which we hope will really crank up the atmosphere a notch. In other news on the audio front, we’ve started making the game’s soundtrack available on Soundcloud - enjoy!
